Reversible Blackberry Case

Published by christinem at 4:23 pm under sewing lessons Edit This

I’ve found a nice little pick-me-up project.  A reversible Blackberry case.  It’s a simple little sleeve that can be made from scrap fabric in about an hour.  And when you tire of it, just turn it inside out.  This technique will work to create a reversible sleeve for any phone or small electronic.

How to Sew a Reversible Blackberry Case:

  1. Place your Blackberry or other device on a piece of paper and trace around it.
  2. Draw a second line outside the original trace for side room and a seam allowance.

  4. Optional:  Add 2-4 inches on top if you want to make a flap.
  5. Label pattern.
  6. Important:  Use craft scissors.  Cut out pattern pieces.
  7. Fold pattern pieces in quarters and trim curves so that they all match.
  8. Switch to fabric scissors and cut out fabric four times for without flap, twice each for with flap.
  9. Place each fabric type right sides together and stitch three quarters of the way around.
  10. Press.
  11. Turn one fabric and press again.
  12. Slip one fabric into the other.

Sewing Tips and Notes:

  • This design has no padding. Add a towel, batting or other padding per your own lifestyle. (Make sure to add to the seam allowance to compensate.)
  • The case pattern piece, without flap as shown for a Blackberry is 4×6 inches.
  • The fabrics shown are Tiverton Spring and Tiverton Garnet by Mill Creek.  They match the laptop sleeve and McCall’s Pattern zip top bag previously shown.
  • If you have a strong pattern, take care cutting and assembling the pieces.
