This is the 100th post on this blog. In celebration, here is a round-up of the ten most popular posts, and a few comments. I’m guessing, due to the way that statistics are collected; it’s difficult to tell. My top ten is based on reader comments, questions, and page views. Thanks for looking.

Evaluation of sewing skills - or what I’m learning about me and sewing, now that I spend my time sewing:
- I have good basic sewing skills.
- Knowledge of intermediate and advanced sewing techniques exists, but is not comprehensive.
- Heirloom sewing, quilting, bridal sewing and sewing with recycled materials are vastly different.
I’ve taken one formal sewing class in my life. Stitchers is that funny or typical? Everything else I learned from my mother, the talented seamstress in the bridal boutique where I worked as a teen, online sewing friends, and books.
I’m very pleased to discover a number of sewing and craft groups, my favorites are Sewing Mamas and Craftster . Having access to live people (though not live nearby) to ask questions is really wonderful and collaborative.
One other note, reusing materials is much more time consuming than using new materials. For example, if I use scraps from clothing or previous projects in a quilt I am typically unable to strip piece. So I must attach each piece separately. So 80 quilt blocks, are 320 sides to deal with, not ten strips that can be cut into blocks to rotate. And in the case of the baby clothes quilt , each piece needed to be mounted on broadcloth and many hand stitched - you get the idea.
