Reading List
I read a lot. These are references that I continue to use and recommend. If I wouldn’t give it to a friend as a gift; you will not find it listed here. With that being said, just because something is not listed does not mean I do not or would not love it. I can’t read everything. But I do try.
p.s. I had several books listed below, pressed the wrong button, and now have one. I’ll add them back this week.
p.p.s. A note to Firefox users. If you cannot see any graphics below, turn off the ad block add-on.
| A good basic reference about fabric. Gives sewing recommendations including needle size, presser foot, and stitch lengths for each fabric type discussed. I keep a copy next to my sewing machine. | |
| If your body does not perfectly match pattern sizing, this book is excellent to have for fitting information. It’ll tell you how to alter a pattern in a flattering way, without being insulting. |
Honorable mentions. These are books I really enjoy. But I would not consider them to be reference books.
| I based my daughter’s baby clothes quilt on the pattern in this book. It is full of lovely, thoughtful gift and family bonding type projects. I like it as a baby shower gift for the mom. Because let’s face it, she’s going to preserve those lovely baby memories. | |
| Great photos and sewing tips. Purse patterns are on paper and need to be enlarged. Being myself, I usually just look at them for inspiration and then draw something similar on butcher paper. It would be my preference if the book came with a disk of patterns in .pdf. C’est la vie. |
