Hi,
I have been trying to hem my knit golf shirts. I am a beginner sewer and a friend says she never sews hems on knits - that she uses stitch witchery for all hemming. Most of my fabrics are polyester or polyester and spandex. Is it recommended that I use stitch witchery for this project? Is there a way to use it and not loose the shirts strechability?
Gerry, if you would like the shirt hem to retain stretch, then I would recommend a zig-zag or stretch stitch (the same thing on some machines). Or, you could just cut the shirt to the length that you prefer and leave it. Knits generally do not ravel.
Stitch witchery works fine, but will change the stretch of the garment where it is used.
Good luck with your project.
